If you’ve been in a salon in the last few years, you’ve probably heard the word “Olaplex'' mentioned at least once, if not a few times (we LOVE that stuff!).Ever wondered what the heck that stuff is and why the heck it’s so popular?! Let’s talk about it!
Well, Olaplex is a patented bond builder. It is the ONLY PRODUCT on the market that is scientifically proven to work on a molecular level to repair your hair from the inside out. Cool right?! It was originally created to prevent damage during color and lightening services and has since expanded to help repair damage related to thermal, environmental factors, and mechanical damage.
It’s a product that is diverse and this means it can be beneficial to EVERY hair type. Whether you get your hair colored or not, it is an extremely versatile treatment because hair is subjected to damage every day in some form. If you do get color services, ask your stylist about using Olaplex and if it’s right for you. The salon treatment has two parts with a chemical service. The first being added directly into the color/lightener before applying and the second as a treatment at the wash bowl prior to shampooing. Did I mention it's diverse? It can also be used as a stand alone treatment with a haircut or styling service by just doing the treatment at the bowl! Again, cool right?!
There are also two ways to do the treatment at home. You can use the No.0 and No.3 together for an extra boost or the No.3 alone for a quick treatment on damp hair. I personally love using them together in the morning and braiding my hair to wear for the day when I’m short on time. These at home treatments are great for on-the-go lifestyles because they are used before washing your hair. Tell me that’s not convenient?!
I like to follow the treatments with the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo is sulfate, paraben, and gluten free, vegan, and color safe! Both the shampoo and conditioner are safe for everyday use so you can have the feel of fresh-from-the-salon hair EVERY DAY! Then I like to use the No.6 Bond Smoother which adds moisture and eliminates frizz while continuing to repair. Follow up with the No.7 Bonding Oil which adds strength, softness, shine, and heat protection up to 450 degrees, and your hair will be looking and feeling FABULOUS!
They also just released the new No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask, which I was SO excited to hear about! And let me tell you, it’s amazing! My hair felt so great after using it, I almost couldn’t believe it.
